Maddison Williams

Hello, and Welcome to my Writing Portfolio!
My name is Maddison Williams. I am a junior at the University of Denver, double majoring in Public Policy and Strategic Communications with a minor in Writing Practices. My portfolio is a brief collection of the work I am most proud of writing during my time at DU. I have a collection of policy briefs, a mock-PR campaign, and some assorted writing pieces from my writing minor.

I love writing in all genres, but have found a lot of joy when writing for my policy major. I have always been interested in social justice and making the world a better place, which is probably why I have become so passionate about my major, public policy. I hope to one day enact the change I have been writing about for the last 3 years.
More About Me
I am originally from Fort Worth, Texas, but I love living in Denver. I am currently the vice president of my sorority, Delta Zeta, and an active member of the DU chess club. I like to keep busy and challenge myself to do the most I can every day. So, when I am not studying or participating in my clubs, I can be found hiking and skiing in the mountains.

I have held two internships over the last two years. One with PAO, a local start-up based in Boulder, where I worked on a PR and social media development team with several other people. I was able to learn a lot about start-up business culture, and get to be a part of a now extremely popular app, and social media movement in Colorado. I have most recently completed an internship with Show Pony Vintage, where I worked as an event coordinator, assisted with social media, and was mentored by the owner of the business. I was offered a part-time position to continue the work I did as an intern. Now, I am Show Pony Vintage's official event coordinator, where I will continue to set up pop-ups in the University area, and create/manage events at the store.
I have recently discovered a passion for Health Care policy in the United States; I enjoy the difficult nature of problem-solving in the specific realm of policy, and would like to pursue a career improving the healthcare industry. For this reason, I believe a Master's in Data Analytics would be extremely beneficial as it would allow me to understand larger trends that contribute to current issues and be better equipped to help solve these problems.
I have recently been accepted to the Master's in Business Analytics program at Daniel's Business College at the University of Denver. I am excited to continue my education and see where this opportunity takes me.
